Master Chief Petty Officer Steven Cantrell, presently the Atlantic Area Master Chief, has been selected to serve as the next master chief petty officer of the Coast Guard. Cantrell, a 29-year veteran, will succeed present Master Chief of the Coast Guard Michael P. Leavitt in a formal ceremony at Cape May, N.J., in May. The Memphis, Tenn.- born Cantrell held numerous jobs during his career, including stints as officer-in-charge of the cutters Ridley and Point Wells. He holds a master’s degree in business administration.
