Corps Updates Casualty-Notification Procedures

A new Marine Corps administrative message detailed thorough instructions for notifying family members of Marines killed or wounded while deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. The message,

MARADMIN 334/08, aims to ensure that casualty assistance calls officers (CACOs) provide information to families in as timely, accurate, and consistent a manner as possible. Among the issues addressed are matters such as handling personal effects, ensuring privacy, and helping CACOs to talk to families on a personal level.
