Cyber Command Director Decries Leaks

The classified material leaked by former contractor Edward Snowden has done "great harm" and "jeopardized" the nation, U.S. Cyber Command chief Army Gen. Keith B. Alexander told the Senate Appropriations Committee during a June 12 hearing. "We will lose capabilities as a result," Alexander said. "Those allies that we’ve helped will no longer be as safe as they were two weeks ago." Snowden turned the material, over to two news agencies while working for the consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton, which was working under contract to the U.S. government at the time. The information revealed that the Obama administration has been monitoring private telephone conversations and email transmissions.
