Education Program Expands

More veterans will be able to take advantage of on-campus vocational and rehabilitative counseling sponsored by the Department of Veterans Affairs. The agency’s "VetSuccess on Campus" program, which offers the counseling, has been expanded to 94 campuses across the country – up from 32. The participating schools have veteran populations of at least 800 to 1,200 students, and are situated near VA regional centers or medical treatment facilities. They also must ask to take part in the program, and provide counselors with office space, computer access, and a telephone. While counselors could expect to spend most of their time handling veterans’ questions about education benefits, they also can direct veterans to specific other resources.
