The Navy has relieved Rear Adm. Erik Ross of his post as commander, Expeditionary Strike Group Two (ESG-2). Vice Adm. Andrew Lewis, commander of U.S. 2nd Fleet, cited “a loss of confidence in [Ross’] ability to command,” according to a Sept. 27 announcement. Capt. Darren Nelson, the expeditionary group’s chief of staff, has temporarily assumed duties as commander until a successor is named.
