First Command Lawsuit Ruled Class Action

On Sept. 19, the U.S. District Court of the Southern District of California ruled that a suit against First Command by two soldiers, their spouses, and two sailors can go forward as a class action suit. According to one of the law firms representing the plaintiffs, individuals who are part of the class will be notified and do not have to take action. The plaintiffs, who charge that First Command used misleading sales practices, seek a refund of the sales load they paid during the first year of systematic investment plans. First Command asserts that the plaintiffs received advisory documents, and that no refunds should be ordered by a court.
