House Passes 3 Vets’ Benefits Packages

The House approved three measures on July 27, aimed at improving insurance and medical services for veterans and providing funding for research and training for those who care for veterans. H.R. 3155 would provide support for friends or family members who must quit jobs to care for wounded veterans; H.R. 3219 would give veterans better options when choosing life insurance policies, increase the role of physician assistants, and bar collection of copayments from catastrophically injured veterans; and H.R. 2770 would embellish relations between VA medical centers and non-profit research institutions. The Senate will now consider the bills.
