Human-Trafficking Policy Takes Shape

Troops now are being trained in recognizing and mitigating human trafficking in the near future, a top Pentagon official said April 8. “We are injecting human trafficking scenarios into exercises that are run globally through our combat commanders,” acting Deputy Defense Secretary Christine H. Fox said, during a White House meeting of the Interagency Task Force to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons. The cabinet-level organization is charged with coordinating the federal government’s efforts to stop human trafficking. Fox also said the Pentagon soon will update regulations governing contractors and employees.
