Jan. Marks CRSC/CRDP Open Season

The next Combat Related Special Compensation and Concurrent Retirement and Disability Pay (CRSC/CRDP) open season, during which retired members eligible for both CRSC and CRDP must choose between the two, runs from Jan. 1 to Jan 31, 2006. CRDP was recently included in regular monthly retired pay. Thus withholdings are processed the same as any other retired pay. CRSC, however, is non-taxable and not part of retired pay. Eligible retirees should have received a letter from the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) with instructions and an election form to be returned to DFAS. Elections will be irrevocable until the next CRSC/CRDP open season. Eligible retirees may apply for CRSC through their branch of service. For information and an application form, visit http://www.dod.mil/dfas/money/retired/crsc-home.htm. Eligibility for CRDP is automatic based on meeting minimum disability rating criteria and does not require an application.
