Marine Boots Barred from Home Travel

The Marine Corps will not allow new graduates of boot camp at Parris Island Recruit Depot, South Carolina, in order to stem the potential spread of COVID-19. The (Hilton Head, South Carolina) Island Packet reported March 18 that the order would remain in effect until at least May 11. New Marines instead would report to their next duty station for further training, and could use the 10-day leave they earned at a later date. The order follows an earlier one, which barred family members and guests from attending graduation ceremonies at Parris Island.
