The Marines have revised their aviation bonuses for certain captains and majors who are within one year of their active-duty commitments from undergraduate aviator training and any further obligation from the financial assistance program. They must be qualified for operational flying duty, be entitled to aviation career incentive pay, and have no more than 13 years of commissioned service if applying for a long-term contract, or 11 years if applying for a short-term contract. Long-term contracts are open to captains and majors with at least 36 months before reaching 16 years of commissioned service, and short-term contracts are open for captains with at least 24 months before reaching 13 years of commissioned service. Long-term contracts will earn up to $20,000 annually, while short-term contracts will earn up to $10,000. For more information see MarAdmin 551/07.
