Three Marines who were driving to their home unit in Bossier City, La., rescued a woman who was stuck in her overturned vehicle Nov. 26. Staff Sgt. Micheal G. McGee, Lance Cpl. Calvin J. Combs, and Lance Cpl. Brandon L. Persilver were returning from a funeral detail in Shelbyville, Texas, when they saw the woman’s car, not far from the cemetery. Combs and Persilver reached the woman by climbing through her truck’s passenger window, and freed her from her seatbelt. Paying little regard to the grime that was covering their dress blue uniforms, the three men and a bystander helped free the woman from the truck and turned her over to local rescue personnel. The woman suffered from minor injuries, largely because of the quick action by her Marine rescuers, according to eyewitnesses.
