Adm. Bill Moran has withdrawn his name from nomination to serve as the next chief of naval operations. The U.S. Naval Institute Press reported July 7 that Moran’s decision is based on issues surrounding possible “inappropriate behavior,” uncovered in an investigation last year by the Defense Department’s inspector general. Adm. John Richardson, the current chief of naval operations, will remain in his post until a successor can be named.
