Some future airmen who enter the service by Sept. 20, when fiscal year 2022 ends, will have an opportunity to collect enlistment bonuses. The Air Force is expanding the bonuses for those who enter seven maintenance-related fields and agree to four or six-year contracts. The service now offers the bonuses to 22 specialties.
“In a competitive labor market, enlistment incentives can help ensure we get the additional airmen required to fill our ranks and serve our nation,” said Maj. Gen. Ed Thomas, commander, Air Force Recruiting Service. “Today, that job market is at record-high levels of competition and it’s a battle for talent.”
The amount of each bonus varies by career field. For example, special warfare recruits can collect $50,000 upon entering active duty. Certain cyber fields are offering as much as $20,000.
