More Help for Homeless Coming

The Veterans Affairs and Housing and Urban Development departments unveiled their latest combined efforts to find suitable housing for homeless veterans. The agencies announced Aug. 21 they would spend $7.8 million on housing and clinical services for 1,120 veterans who now live on the streets. The new funding augments the $60 million VA and HUD earmarked for veterans’ homelessness in May. The agencies said they helped reduce the ranks of homeless veterans by 4,876 since January 2011, through grant and voucher programs.
