Sailors can now reenlist and collect a selective reenlistment bonus (SRB) for up to 90 days before their active obligated service expiration date, under a new Navy policy. Under old regulations, sailors could reenlist and collect SRBs for up to a fiscal year before their expiration of active obligated service date. The change, as detailed in NAVADMIN 006/09, is aimed at allowing the Navy to do a better job of projecting end strength. It could also provide an incentive to stay in the service for sailors with critical skills.
