Navy Orders LCS Engineering Stand Down

The Navy has ordered a stand down of all littoral combat ships (LCSs), following recent incidents involving systems failures on the vessels. Seapower Magazine reported Sept. 6 that the stand down, which involved only the ships’ engineering systems, allowed teams to go over procedures and standards in the ships’ engineering departments thoroughly. Commander of Naval Surface Forces Vice Adm. Tom Rowden, who ordered the stand down, also requested a review of training and education procedures for sailors who staff the ships.
