Navy Qualifies Special Pay Requirement

Sailors serving in "uniquely challenging assignments" will not qualify for annual special duty assignment pay they should be earning unless their commanders review and certify the entitlements each year, the Navy said in a recent fleet-wide announcement. Special duty assignment pay for this year will be terminated for sailors whose commanders have not complied with certifications by Aug. 31. Commanders also are responsible for ensuring that the requests are correct, and take into account any changes that could affect eligibility status. More details are articulated in NAVADMIN 114/13, available online at http://www.public.navy.mil/bupers-npc .
