The Navy has struck an agreement with Microsoft Corp., to ensure the company would continue to provide support for the service’s computers that use Windows XP or older operating systems. The Navy still is moving forward with plans to migrate all computers to the newer Windows 7 operating system. However, because of the large number of Navy computers that run XP, and the potential threats to cyber security that could emerge otherwise, Microsoft will continue to support XP until April 14, 2015.
