The effort to build 56 new homes in the Arapahoe Village neighborhood at Fort Carson, Colorado has begun. The new three- and four-bedroom residences should be finished and ready for families to move in by September 2025. In time, the post will gain some 232 new homes near its Gate 2 in close proximity to Mountainside Elementary School. One of the new homes in this first stage will be built to comply with Americans with Disabilities Act standards.
“Two years ago, we began the demolition of the old Cherokee Village West neighborhood, and two years later we are about to go vertical on the first structure. I couldn’t be more excited to start bringing quality homes to the families and soldiers of Fort Carson,” said Col. Sean Brown, the garrison commander.
The new homes are slated to replace units that were built in 1958 and served as residences for more than 57,000 soldiers and families until they were demolished in 2021. Carson now has 3,191 housing units with an 87 percent occupancy rate. Once all the new housing is completed, the post will have 3,368 units.
