Petraeus Sentenced; Avoids Prison

Retired Army Gen. David Petraeus was fined $200,000 and placed on a two-year probation, after admitting to federal charges of unauthorized removal and retention of classified information and lying to the FBI and CIA. The charges against Petraeus arose after it became public that he was having an affair with former Army officer Paula Broadwell. Petraeus was director of the CIA at the time; Broadwell was his biographer. Petraeus admitted his guilt during an April 23 appearance in federal court in North Carolina.
