Proposed ’14 VA Budget Targets Homelessness, Joblessness

Homeless and unemployed veterans would receive help stabilizing their lives, under provisions of the Obama administration’s proposed 2014 budget for the Department of Veterans Affairs. The budget calls for $1.4 billion to fund homelessness programs, which would fund permanent and temporary housing. Also on the table is a plan to establish a Veterans Job Corps, provide $1 billion for assistance to jobless veterans, and develop back-to-work programs in conjunction with other federal agencies.
