The Navy has issued new guidelines for officers and sailors who are pregnant or who recently gave birth. Some highlights include:
* Allowing women to request to terminate deferment any time after convalescent leave;
* Allowing some requests to remain with units after the 20th week of pregnancy;
* Automatic adjustment of rotation dates for women who transferred from sea duty to shore duty because of pregnancy, and;
* Requiring women to contact their detailers to seek worldwide assignability within nine months of the expiration of their deferments.
