Report: Drone Flights To Increase

The Defense Department plans to increase flights by MQ-1 Predator and MQ-9 Predator unmanned aerial aircraft, the Wall Street Journal reported. Daily flights will increase by 50 percent, reporter Gordon Lubold wrote in August 16 issues. The aircraft would be used in both surveillance and combat missions. To date, the U.S. has flown drones in as many as 620 combat missions in Pakistan, Yemen, Somalia and Afghanistan since 2002, according to the Bureau of Investigative Journalism. Some 5460 people were killed in those attacks, including more than 1,100 civilians, according to the organization.
