SEAL To Receive Posthumous Medal of Honor

Master-at-Arms 2nd Class (SEAL) Michael A. Monsoor, a machine gunner with SEAL Team 3, has earned the Medal of Honor, the nation’s highest award for valor in combat. President Bush will present his parents with the medal in an April 8 White House ceremony, the Pentagon announced March 31. Monsoor, 25, of Garden Grove, Calif., earned the award when an enemy grenade hit him in the chest at a sniper lookout post in Ramadi, Iraq, on Sept. 29, 2006. Monsoor threw himself upon the grenade and was killed as he bore the brunt of the explosion. Three fellow SEALS and three Iraqi soldiers survived because of his action.
