The Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee approved by voice vote the nomination of Robert Wilkie to serve as the next Secretary of Veterans Affairs. Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., cast the sole dissenting vote during the July 10 session. Wilkie has served as acting VA secretary since March 28, after then-Secretary Robert Shulkin stepped down. Wilkie’s nomination is headed to the full Senate for a vote.
