Services Meet Recruiting, Retention Goals

The active-duty and reserve components of each armed service either met or exceeded recruiting and retention goals through March for the 12-month period that began Oct. 1, 2010. The active Army signed 34,264 new accessions, the Army National Guard sighed 27,426, and the Army Reserve signed 15,322, all exceeding projected goals. The Navy and Navy Reserve met their accession marks precisely, signing 16,011 and 3,998 new accessions respectively. The active and reserve Air Force met its accession goals as well, with 14,279 and 4,539 accessions respectively. The Air Guard hit 99 percent of its accession goal, with 3,413 accessions. The active Marine Corps met its recruitment goal with 11,497 accessions, while the Marine Corps Reserve exceeded its goal with 5,081 accessions.
