Services React To Hood Shootings

In the aftermath of the multiple shootings that left 13 dead and 43 wounded at Fort Hood Texas a year ago, the armed services announced plans Nov. 12 to update procedures to identify and deal with internal security threats on installations. While each service outlined its own plans to implement changes, they all focus upon better training, revision of violence-prevention and response protocols, and improved sharing of information. The plans all follow a January report to Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates into the incident. Army psychiatrist Maj. Nidal Hasan is charged with the Fort Hood shootings.
