United Technologies Corp., the parent company of Sikorsky Aircraft, announced plans June 15 to sell the helicopter manufacturer, or spin it off as a separate corporate entity. Corporate leaders made the decision in an effort to enable each company to focus upon their “core businesses,” United Technologies stated in a press release. Sikorsky builds numerous military aircraft, including the Army Black Hawk, Navy Seahawk and Air Force Pave Hawk and the H-92 twin-engine, medium lift helicopters.
