Soldier Wins Olympic Gold Medal

Sgt. Vincent Hancock, a soldier assigned to the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit at Eatonton, Ga., won his second gold medal for skeet shooting at the XXX Olympic Games in London. Hancock, 23, registered a qualification score of 123 and a total score of 145, in prevailing over Danish and Qatari shooters, who earned silver and bronze medals respectively. Hancock came into the games with prior Olympic experience. He also earned a gold medal in the Beijing games four years ago. "I firmly believe that I’m shooting better right now than I ever have in my entire career," he said. "A month ago to the day, I won our national championships shooting a 274 out of 275, so being able to come here and shoot a 148 out of 150, I’m already one target behind. So I’ve got some working to do. Hey, I leave myself a little room for improvement next time. Maybe I’ll get that 125 and that 150."
