The Fleet Reserve Association (FRA) reports that some service members and retirees have not yet received their new Defense Department identification cards, which do not show their Social Security numbers. Even though DoD said that retirees could begin requesting the cards on Jan. 1, FRA reports that some local identification card offices have told retirees that cards are available now only for military family members. It was “unclear when they will be available to service members and retirees,” FRA reports.
