Spec Ops To Assume Greater Role

The fight against Daesh (Islamic State) fighters in Syria and Iraq will intensify in the aftermath of the Paris terror attacks last month, Defense Secretary Ash Carter told a panel of lawmakers during a Dec. 1 hearing on Capitol Hill. “We’re sending special operations forces to Syria to support the fight,” Carter told the House Armed Services Committee. “These special operators will … conduct raids, free hostages, gather intelligence, and capture [Daesh] leaders,” Carter said.
