Strikes Against Islamic State Continue

U.S. aircraft continued to pound Islamic State positions and assets in Iraq and Syria. In mid-October, missions included attacks on terrorist positions near the Syrian town of Kobani. Four airstrikes there hit a fighting position, command-and-control facility, staging building, and small fighting units, according to the Pentagon. Another airstrike near Kobani destroyed three trucks. In Iraq, raids hit a small unit and destroyed several vehicles. U.S. aircraft also airdropped food, water, and ammunition to Iraqi security forces near the town of Bayji.
