Test Flight Successful

The Missile Defense Agency successfully completed a test flight of a three-stage ground-based interceptor Jan. 26. The Exoatmospheric Kill Vehicle was launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif., with the intent of reaching a pre-planned point in space. Future tests would entail another launch of a target vehicle, which the ground-based interceptor would try to hit. In the meantime, the agency is assessing the data collected from the vehicle’s successful test flight.
