TRADOC Improves Correspondence Testing

In the wake of reports last year of cheating on online correspondence tests, the Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) announced a series of changes aimed at reducing improprieties. Within the next three months, soldiers taking Army Correspondence Course Program (ACCP) online tests will see the results. Among them:

* While open-book, multiple-choice testing will remain, both questions and answer choices will appear randomly on screens of those being tested;

* Ability to print questions will be limited;

* Waiting periods for courses, or to retake the test after failing twice, will increase;

* Course work will be limited to no more than 1,000 hours per year, unless soldiers receive waivers from their commanders;

* Penalties for cheating under the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ), will be clearly spelled out atop each exam, with the understanding that the person taking the test is aware of the legal consequences of cheating.
