Cadets at the U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, and midshipmen at the U.S. Naval Academy, now can take advantage of the same quicker check-ins at airports afforded to active-duty and reserve service members. The Transportation Safety Administration (TSA) announced the move Nov. 10, which affects travel in and out of 120 airports on 11 airlines. As such, cadets and midshipmen who provide their military identification numbers can move through TSA pre-flight screenings without taking off their shoes, light outerwear and belts, and keep their laptop computers and compliant liquids and gels in their carry-on bags. TSA still retains the right to deny expedited screening if necessary, however.
