The Army has appointed Maj. Gen. Kenneth R. Dahl to head the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the case of Sgt. Bowe R. Bergdahl, who disappeared from his combat post in Afghanistan in June 2009. Some former comrades stated publicly that Bergdahl deserted his post at Combat Outpost Mest-Lalak, and that missions to recover him led to loss of life among fellow soldiers. Dahl will have access to all documentary evidence and facts surrounding the case, the Army stated. He also will have no time limits to complete the investigation.
