Units Honored for Family Readiness

The Pentagon’s civilian chief of reserve affairs honored units from each of the seven National Guard and Reserve components for the programs they have in place to aid families during deployments in a Feb. 15 ceremony. Receiving the 2007 DoD Family Readiness awards from Thomas F. Hall, the assistant secretary for reserve affairs, were: 

* Naval Air Systems Command (NASC-6066), Patuxent River Naval Air Station, Md., for the Navy Reserve;

* The 944th Mission Support Flight, Luke Air Force Base, Ariz., for the Air Force Reserve; 

* The 144th Fighter Wing, Fresno, Calif., for the Air National Guard; 

* The 1st Battalion, 121st Field Artillery, Milwaukee, Wis., for the Army National Guard; 

* The 108th Training Command, Charlotte, N.C., for the Army Reserve; 

* Port Security Unit 308, Gulfport, Miss., for the Coast Guard Reserve; 

* 2nd Battalion, 24th Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Chicago, for the Marine Corps Reserve.
