V Corps Inactivation Delayed

Heidelberg, Germany-based V Corps, the Army’s only forward-deployed corps headquarters, will remain operational for another year. The Army had planned to inactivate V Corps and convert U.S. Army Europe Headquarters in Heidelberg to a deployable field headquarters by next month. Army leaders decided to extend V Corps’ run until next July to address problems for soldiers caused by extremely high operational demands, including low "dwell times" they spend at home between combat deployments.
