VA Phishing Alert

The Department of Veterans Affairs has advised that veterans are receiving email from the address abuse@vba.va.gov which asks them to check an account by clicking on a link provided in the email. This email is a phishing scam, an attempt to gain personal information, warns the VA. The email address is fake and the link in the email is to a web site in Asia. To report suspected fraud, waste or abuse in VA programs or operations, visit www.va.gov/oig/hotline/hotline.htm. To learn more about how to avoid being taken advantage by this or any other scams visit the Federal Trade Commission’s Identity Theft website www.consumer.gov/idtheft.
