GSA Launches Mobile App to Make Per Diem Rates More Accessible

GSA has launched a mobile app for iPhone and Blackberry devices to make its per diem rates for government travel, lodging, meals, and incidentals more accessible.

The app joins a growing collection of government apps available at apps.usa.gov, including “FEMA Mobile,” designed to help users respond to and recover from emergency situations.

The GSA per diem app enables users to search for rates based on city, state or zip code. GSA said its planning to add a version for Google’s Andriod operating system as well as integrating location detection into future versions.

GSA said it decided to develop the app (it took one month to produce) because the per diem section of its website was among the most highly trafficked and it made sense to make that information easier to get on a handheld device while traveling.
