The Office of Management and Budget has issued consolidated guidance on policies and best practices for implementing IT solutions government-wide.
The so-called federal transition framework was created under the federal enterprise architecture to clarify information needed for cost effective investment in IT and in order to incorporate new technologies into existing agency operations, according to OMB.
It said the FTF is a catalog of architectural information and implementation guidance for cross-agency IT initiatives, such as the E-Gov, Line of Business, Internet Protocol Version 6 and Homeland Security Presidential Directive-12 initiatives.
“By consolidating cross-agency information on IT policy in one convenient location, agencies are able to quickly and more efficiently make decisions related to their overall mission,” said Karen Evans, OMB administrator for E-Gov and IT.
