OPM Adds Pandemic Lesson to Online Telework Training

The Office of Personnel Management has announced that it updated its free online “telework 101” course for employees

and mangers to include information on responding to a pandemic flu outbreak.

The management lessons introduce managers to basic telework concepts and walks them through the process of developing a program, selecting employees for telework, and managing

effectively in a telework environment.

Specifically, the pandemic lesson covers what a pandemic is, recent government policy, and how telework can help prepare managers for such scenarios.

OPM said that after completing the lesson, managers should be able to define a pandemic and the risks posed, describe how telework could assist in the government’s response to an

outbreak, as well as list actions that could be taken by a manager to prepare.
