The Office of Personnel Management has released a Draft
Research Grade Evaluation Guide and has asked the Departments
of Health and Human Services, Agriculture and Interior to take
the lead in reviewing and testing the draft RGEG, and for other
agencies to review and comment on the draft.
The RGEG currently covers professional research work in the
biological, medical, agricultural, physical, and mathematical
sciences, as well as engineering and psychology. The draft
extends coverage to include all professional research positions
in the social science, psychology, and welfare group 0100, OPM said.
OPM said it was proposing to expanded coverage primarily in
response to agency requests, attached questions to the draft to
guide agency reviews, and added a second attachment giving
background information on the development of the draft and
rationale for significant changes. The draft is available here:
