Construction of several new facilities at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, is moving forward. When complete, the $107-million site will serve as the Air Force’s center for developing new technologies that would counter threats to security from technologically advanced foes.

“The facilities will help the Air Force maintain a technology edge over our adversaries by developing and testing next generation cutting-edge weapons. AFCEC (the Air Force Civil Engineer Center] works with Air Force installations to construct resilient and mission-ready facilities that provide a high level of combat power, readiness and lethality,” said Col. Dave Norton, director of the center’s Facility Engineering Directorate. The contract for phase one of the project was awarded last March. Groundbreaking took place last May. Construction should be finished by 2022.
