Separating airmen can use existing Air Force programs that help them find science, technology, engineering, or mathematics-related careers with the federal government after they leave active duty. The Air Force Personnel Center, on its Web site, states that the service hires 500 to 600 veterans with training in the aforementioned disciplines annually. One such hiring program, for example, is helping to place non-commissioned officers into jobs with the Tennessee Valley Authority in northern Alabama.
