Active-duty airmen will now face physical fitness testing twice annually, conducted by civilian proctors and in new locations, under changes that will take effect next January. Aerobic fitness scores will count for 60 percent of the new test scores, up from 50 percent, while body composition scores will be downgraded to 20 percent from 30 percent. Sit-ups and push-ups will still each comprise 10 percent of total testing scores. Airmen will need to achieve a composite score of at least 75, meeting minimum requirements on each test, to pass. Age-range requirements have also been revised. The five categories are: under age 30, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60-plus. Full details of the new Air Force instruction regarding fitness testing will be published next month.
