The Department of the Air Force has authorized a series of changes to uniform requirements. Among them:
• Child development centers have been designated as no-hat, no-salute zones. Salutes also are not required when someone is carrying a child.
• Headbands can be worn in cold weather.
• Airmen now can wear a total of four badges on the operational camouflage pattern (OCP) uniform, above the USAF tape.
• Airmen also can wear OCP patrol caps or tactical OCP caps in addition to flight caps while in their flight duty uniforms.
• Airmen’s purses and handbags can bear small logos, not to exceed one inch in diameter. There are no such color or logo restrictions for guardians.
• Olive drab backpacks can be worn with any uniforms.
• Any size logo can appear on gym bags.
• Airmen and guardians can buy cold-weather parkas, with some exceptions. The parkas must be either OCP pattern or coyote brown and have name tapes, service tape, rank and patches – worn in authorized configuration.
• Friday morale shirts can bear logos front and back, with the back logo being larger. The shirts must be coyote brown, and the front logo has to appear on the left side and not exceed five inches in diameter.
• “Heritage like” morale patches can be worn on flight duty uniforms and OCPs, with some limitations.
