More details for the plan to offer free maternity uniforms to airmen and guardians are emerging. The Department of the Air Force (DAF) provided these additional details regarding the pilot program, which was announced earlier this year:

• The Army will maintain a stock of the camouflage uniforms, which are common for soldiers as well as airmen and guardians. The clothing will be readily available at 10 select Army locations. The Army’s Organizatonal Clothing and Individual Equipment Direct Ordering system would handle fulfillment of orders for the uniforms.

• Uniforms would be returned by the seventh post-partum month.

• Members could be responsible for lost or damaged uniforms, if the damage is deemed beyond normal wear and tear.

• Enlisted members who received a clothing allowance within the past three years are not eligible for the free uniforms.

• Eligible enlisteds who take part in the program can still get a partial maternity clothing allowance.

• More information is available in the welcome packet all service members receive.
