Air Force Waives European BAH Payback

The Air Force has granted a waiver of payback requested by the U.S. Air Forces in Europe for 8,650 airmen stationed in Europe. Although they were erroneously paid a housing allowance between Oct. 1, 2005 and July 31, 2006 they will not be required to refund the overpayments. The error began when certain airmen overseas were no longer authorized the flat-rate Basic Allowance for Housing-II in addition to an Overseas Housing Allowance, but continued to receive both.
